Kenya Barris Acquires Zedd’s Striking Beverly Hills Mansion

Anton Zaslavski, widely known as Zedd, has successfully sold his contemporary residence in Benedict Canyon for nearly $18.4 million. The Russian-German DJ and record producer originally purchased the spec mansion located in the mountains above Beverly Hills in early 2018, and the recent sale represents a profit of approximately $2.4 million.

The buyer of the property is Kenya Barris, an acclaimed writer, producer, and director recognized for his work on projects such as “Black-ish,” “Girls Trip,” “Grown-ish,” and the newly released Netflix film “You People.” After spending several months on the market with an initial asking price of $26.5 million, the listing price underwent several reductions, and various real estate brokerages were involved in the transaction before Barris purchased the house at a significant discount.

Nestled on a secluded cul-de-sac beyond gates, the five-bedroom, nine-bathroom residence is situated on a 3.2-acre hillside parcel just below Mulholland Drive. Built in 2016, the property boasts over 11,000 square feet of open-concept living space spread across two levels, featuring high ceilings and expansive walls of glass that offer breathtaking views of the ocean and mountains. Impressive amenities include a custom-designed movie theater equipped with a 4K laser projector, a billiard room, and an indoor/outdoor gym.

A long walkway leads past a reflecting pool, guiding visitors to the wooden front door that opens into an atrium with a captivating water feature. From there, a step-down great room encompasses a cozy living room with a fireplace, adjacent to a gourmet kitchen complete with two built-in Korean barbecue charcoal grills, top-of-the-line appliances, and a prep kitchen/pantry that connects to a brick-clad dining room embellished with a wood-paneled ceiling.

An elegant floating staircase leads to the upper level, where a lavish master retreat occupies the entire floor. The master suite offers a linear fireplace, a private terrace, dual walk-in closets, and a luxurious bathroom featuring dual vanities, a soaking tub, and a steam shower. Additionally, four guest suites on the lower level open up to the picturesque grounds, which include a conversation area with a fire pit, an al fresco dining space with an outdoor kitchen, an infinity-edge pool and spa, and a roof deck. The property also includes a four-car garage.

Zedd still retains ownership of a $15 million mansion he purchased from Joe Jonas in 2020. As for Kenya Barris, his extensive real estate portfolio encompasses homes in Encino, Studio City, and Toluca Lake. Last year, he sold a modern mansion in Encino for $8.2 million.

The listing was represented by David Kramer of Hilton & Hyland, while Pam Lumpkin of Compass represented the buyer.
