Dr. Dre, the renowned rapper, hitmaker, Beats founder, and all-around billionaire, is bidding farewell to his beachfront getaway of more than 20 years. The 57-year-old native of Compton is openly asking $20 mιllιon for the Malibu estate that his ex-wife Nicole Young once called home.
Dre will still turn a healthy profit even if the mansion sells for much less than what he paid for it in 2000 ($4.8 mιllιon); in the 22 years afterwards, Malibu home values have risen.
The three-story mansion is unique for several other reasons, including the fact that it is situated on a nearly 7,000 square foot property on Carbon Beach in Malibu, which has grown to be one of the most expensive areas of the city.
According to the description, the place is a “contemporary beach estate” that “exudes total luxury and sophistication.” The opulent house, constructed in the early 1990s, has floor-to-ceiling glass walls that let in plenty of natural light and provide views of the river from every room.
The entrance enters into a small lobby, which takes visitors to a large great room that is ideal for entertaining.
This room has a beautiful stone fireplace and sliding glass doors that open to a balcony that overlooks the beach, all of which are protected by gates, a courtyard-style entrance, and a sophisticated security system.
Among the additional open-concept living areas are a recording studio, a large gym, an executive office, a primary bedroom with a sauna, a carpeted fireplace, a sitting area, and a private balcony, a primary closet, and five guest bedrooms. With a size of around 9,000 square feet, this residence is one of the bigger ones on Carbon Beach.
It’s not the first time Dr. Dre has attempted to sell his Malibu vacation home, which is a short stroll from Nobu Malibu and was occupied by Nicole Young during the couple’s acrimonious divorce.
The Pacific Coast Highway property was up for sale ten years ago for a few months with an asking price between $11 mιllιon and $12.5 mιllιon.
