Spending 6 biℓℓiо𝚗 usᴅ to build a ꜱuрeг city like Wakanda, Akon regrets that he is building a second city in Uganda
Although the development of the first crypto city is still ongoing, Uganda has reserved another piece of land for a second city for Senegalese-American star, Akon.
Akon has announced that the second Akon City will be located in Uganda, with the backing of the country’s government. Isaac Musumba, Uganda’s Minister of State for Lands, Housing and Urban Development, said at a press conference that a plot of land one square mile or larger will be given to Akon City 2 for construction. .
“A suitable place in Uganda with an area of not less than one square mile will be available to him and his team so that he can exploit resources and invest, attract investors, manage project and have a city.”
Like the first Akon City in Senegal, it will use Akon’s own star-based Akoin cryptocurrency. The digital currency has been introduced at Mwale Medical and Technology City (MMTC) in Kenya as a pilot for Akon City.
“We will exclusively use Akoin by the end of 2021,” said MMTC lead investor Julius Mwale.
Akon was asked whether Ugandans have the financial means to live in the future Akon City. The R&B singer responded that Ugandans will eventually get there, motivated by the new opportunities the city offers.
Experts will be flown in to train locals. Local people will be properly trained not only in construction but also in property management and maintenance. The Akon City 2 project is expected to be completed in 2036.
