Marcus Stroman Acquires Stunning Blufftop Retreat in Malibu to award his longtime girlfriend

Chicago Cubs pitcher Marcus Stroman has purchased a luxurious blufftop retreat in Malibu for slightly above the $8 million asking price. The Spanish-style home, located within a desirable gated enclave overlooking Carbon Beach, is expected to be shared by Stroman and his longtime girlfriend, celebrity fitness trainer Shannon Nadj.

The seller of the property, a veteran CBRE executive, had owned the mansion for 16 years, originally purchasing it for $4.2 million in spring 2007. Although the home was not officially on the market, Stroman seized the opportunity to acquire this stunning residence.

Built in 2003, the sandy-hued stucco and terracotta-roof structure sits on a flat parcel spanning approximately 1.5 acres of land. The property offers privacy, hidden behind gates, and showcases picturesque city lights and ocean views from nearly every corner.

The elegant interior features five bedrooms, six bathrooms, and a little over 5,100 square feet of single-level living space. Stone floors and high wood-accented ceilings add to the charm of the home. Additionally, there is a detached one-bedroom, one-bathroom guesthouse.

Highlights of the residence include formal living and dining rooms, a cozy fireside family room, and a spacious kitchen equipped with an eat-in island, stainless steel appliances, and a breakfast nook. The private master retreat occupies its own wing and boasts a fireplace, walk-in closet, and a large bathroom with dual vanities, a spa tub, and a glass-encased shower. The property also features a wine cellar and an office space converted from one of the bedrooms.

Outside, the landscaped grounds offer meandering pathways, an infinity pool, and a spa surrounded by a grassy lawn. There is a built-in barbecue station, a conversation area with a fire pit, and numerous spaces for outdoor dining and lounging. An additional perk is the deeded rights to the La Costa Beach and Tennis Club, which transfer with the property.

Prior to joining the Cubs in 2021, Stroman played for the Toronto Blue Jays and the New York Mets, earning a Gold Glove Award and an All-Star appearance. He has also represented Team Puerto Rico in the World Baseball Classic. In addition to his newly acquired Malibu retreat, the 31-year-old New York native owns a custom waterfront mansion in an exclusive gated community in Tampa, Florida, which he purchased for $1.85 million in October 2017.
