While in Italy, Vanessa Bryant took her daughters to see the town where Kobe grew up.

On a trip to Italy with their girls, Kobe Bryant’s widow Vanessa is paying tribute to him by visiting the place where he spent time as a young man.

She posted a slideshow on Instagram showing her and the girls exploring Reggio Calabria, where her husband spent his early childhood.

Vanessa and her three kids, ages three, five, and nineteen, are currently touring Italy. They have been posting photos and videos of their time on the water, at restaurants, and in the streets of Reggio Calabria.

Despite his Philadelphia birthplace, Kobe spent a good portion of his formative years in the Italian towns of Reiti (Lazio), Pistoia (Tuscany), and Reggio Calabria. Kobe participated in a basketball league for young people in Reggio Calabria. Following his and his daughter Gianna’s tragic deaths in a helicopter crash, Reggio Calabria observed a week of formal mourning.

If you’re a fan of the game of basketball, a trip to Reggio Calabria should be on your bucket list.

Located on the southern Italian coast and opposite Sicily, the town of Aspromonte is home to numerous cultural institutions and natural wonders like the National Archaeological Museum and the Bergamot Museum. In contrast, the PalaPentimele arena hosts professional basketball matches for the local team, Viola Reggio Calabria. We’re confident that a shirt bearing the numbers 8 or 24 will be appreciated by any fan base.

Vanessa has been documenting their vacation on Instagram, sharing photographs of herself and her sister Natalia eating gelato and riding on a jet ski, among other activities.
