James Hetfield hopes to ‘try and improve myself’ in 2024
James Hetfield, the front man of Metallica, is one person who is most likely doing well for himself. He and his family are financially secure for at least one or two generations after his passing, since he is the leader of the largest metal band on the globe. The guy is recognized as one of the greatest rhythm-minded guitarists of all time, if not the greatest. All of that, however, is meaningless if the man doesn’t feel like he’s enjoying life to the fullest.
Hetfield stated that his “new year’s thoughts” were to improve in all facets of his life in the most recent episode of The Metallica Report, the group’s official podcast (narrated by Blabbermouth).
“I don’t normally give much thought to New Year’s resolutions, but after looking back on the previous year, I’m very appreciative of everything I have and everything I’ve experienced. Every year, I eagerly anticipate what the next year has in store. It becomes both easier and tougher as I age. Therefore, I always look forward to hitting the road again, performing, and meeting new and old people at the events.
“All right, so. What more is unknown to me? I suppose the start of a new year is a time for purification, and I have some new objectives. Really, all I’m doing is trying to keep becoming better, to become better, to have a better outlook on life and other people’s lives, and to just try to make as many people happy as I can.”
In light of Metallica’s recent album release, extensive tour, and upcoming 2024 dates, it’s safe to assume that Het will endeavor to “bring as much joy to people as possible” in the next year. Their list of locations they haven’t played is becoming smaller now that they have Saudi Arabia as their second foreign metal act.
