Rihanna performs fan favorites at a billionaire’s exclusive Indian wedding
Friday night, Rihanna had a strong performance in Jamnagar, India, singing hits including “Umbrella,” “Consideration,” “Stay,” and others.
Everyone who wasn’t invited was envious of Rihanna’s performance at the wealthy Mukesh Ambani’s son’s special pre-wedding celebration.
On Friday night, Rihanna made her stage debut in India for her first major live appearance since her 2023 Suρer Bowl concert. Thanks to a few kind attendees who captured much of the performance, footage of her performing uncommon fan favorites—such as 2012’s “Stay,” her career-launching “Umbrella,” and “Consideration,” a song she co-wrote with SZA—began to circulate on X.
Rihanna sang “Work,” “Wild Thoughts,” “Birthday Cake,” “Pour It Up,” and “Pose” in the exact sequence she sang them in February of last year. She even included some of the dance movements created by Parris Goebel.
She dressed in a stunning green gown with bead embroidery and ended the evening with a fiery pink headdress, but there were no wardrobe changes. After the last song, the Ambani family came out on stage with her for an embrace and picture.
The performance marked the beginning of a three-day celebration honoring Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant, whose wedding is not scheduled for later this summer. The event took place in the family’s home town of Jamnagar, India. Numerous well-known figures, such as Mark Zuckerberg, Bob Iger, the CEO of Disney, and Bill Gates, are reportedly invited.
What is the financial need for Rihanna to come out of retirement?
The Ambani family allegedly spent over $100 million on Anant’s sister Isha’s wedding in 2018, thus The Daily Mail’s estimate of a starting price of $6 million isn’t too high. Beyoncé had a performance during the event.
Anant is the youngest child of Reliance Industries’ chairman and managing director, Mukesh Ambani, who also has interests in retail and financial services, oil and gas, and telecommunications. According to Forbes, he is worth over $116 billiоn.
