AC/DC returns for their first European tour in eight years

The ‘Back in Black’ group will tear up the continent with a slightly altered lineup.

A brand-new European tour has been announced by Australian band AC/DC. It will be their first in eight years, and the live lineup will include two new members.

Beginning on May 17 in Germany, the POWER UP tour will travel around Europe, stopping on dates in Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland, England, Slovakia, and France before coming to an end on August 17 in Dublin.

The “Highway to Һell” rockers are making their first trip to Europe since 2016 and will be showcasing their 2020 album “Power Up” to the region for the first time.

The Australian brothers Malcolm and Angus Young started the band in late 1973, and on New Year’s Eve of that same year, they played their first official show. The band is celebrating its 50th anniversary with this tour.

With longtime on-again, off-again lead singer Brian Johnson, Angus continued to head the band after the deаth of founding brother Malcolm in 2017.

The lineup of the band has changed once again since AC/DC’s last European tour. Although he has stopped performing, longtime drummer Phil Rudd came back to the group in 2020 to record the most current album.

Matt Laug, an accomplished touring drummer, will take Rudd’s position on the road.

Cliff Williams, the bassist, who left the group in 2016 and rejoined for the new record, will also not be performing on the tour. Williams performed with the group at the Power Trip music event late last year, but he has also retired from traveling.

Chris Chaney, the former bassist for Jane’s Addiction, will fill in for Williams on the bottom end. Laug and Chaney, two up-and-coming musicians, have both collaborated with well-known artists Alanis Morissette and Slash in the past.
