Castor Hetfield hopes people see him as a real artist and not as James Hetfield’s son: ‘It’s annoying when people look down on me like that’
Along with guitarist Ethan Sirotzki and vocalist-bassist Jake Benn, Castor is the drummer for Bastardane. Hetfield Sr. has been providing guidance to the three, helping them to progressively advance their careers.
In a recent interview, Castor told Noisecreep, “My dad had told me a lot of his tour horror stories from when he was young, so I feel like that helps, so we can pre-learn from his mistakes.” “Think about partying a bit too much and then having the following gig not be as good, or simply leaving all your stuff in the vehicle and having everything taken out of it. just some consistency-related topics, which is something I believe is quite important.
Benn gave a particular instance of how, despite his pre-show nervousness, Hetfield spoke the right thing at the right moment. He essentially said, “The audience wants you to do well just as much as you want to do well,” from what I recall hearing. The purpose of the audience is to enjoy themselves. Because sometimes it seems like they’re going to judge you and have a horrible time if you screw up, but that’s actually not the case. “It’s helpful to hear stuff like that,” he continued.
Is This Rage?, Bastardane’s first album, was released in March. The band introduced itself, saying, “We are Bastardane and we are not some average chump white male band looking to get laid.” Every generation has a period when music serves as a beacon of hope during difficult circumstances. Our goal is to create music that inspires people on an emotional level without aiming to appeal to a certain demographic. Making people happy and attending to the emotional needs of individuals who are unable to cope with words alone are the goals of our work.
