Bruce Dickinson is renowned for his candid opinions on heavy metal, particularly about Iron Maiden’s status within the genre. When Dickinson was attempting to persuade Steve Harris to allow him to rejoin the band in 1999, he even went so far as to declare that Iron Maiden was superior than Metallica in a recent interview with Classic Rock.

Band manager Rod Smallwood suggested that Dickinson and Harris get together after Blaze Bayley’s time with Iron Maiden ended in 1999.

Steve had a strange demeanor. “Why do you want to come back?” he said. In fact, I said, “I want to come back, Steve. I think we can make amazing music, and, as my friends would sаy, the world needs Iron Maiden.”

Bruce continued by asking himself whether he thought Iron Maiden needed him back.
