It was Jeff Bezos who made the space flight last year; his girlfriend will shortly follow suit.
In an interview with CNN that aired on Monday, Lauren Sánchez stated that she intends to travel to space at some point in 2023.
Sánchez, a former reporter and presenter, is also a certified helicopter pilot who established Black Ops Aviation, an aerial production and cinematography firm, in 2016. Since 2019, she and Bezos have had a public romance.
Sánchez informed CNN that although the former CEO of Amazon will not be traveling in space with her, she will be accompanied by “a great group of females.”
In July 2021, Bezos sent his aerospace business Blue Origin on its first-ever human spaceflight. Along with him on the journey were his brother Mark, Dutch youngster Oliver Daemen, and aviator Wally Funk, who was eighty-two at the time.
Bezos also promised to donate the majority of his $124 billion fortune over his lifetime in the CNN interview that aired on Monday. In recent years, he had come under fire for refusing to join the Giving Pledge, which commits some of the richest people on the planet to giving away the majority of their fortune to worthy organizations.
MacKenzie Scott, the ex-wife of Bezos, joined the Giving Pledge in 2019 and has since donated almost $12 billion.
Bezos also addressed reports that he is considering purchasing the Washington Commanders of the NFL.
“Yes, that buzz is real,” he admitted to CNN.
“I grew up in Houston, Texas, and I played football growing up as a kid … and it is my favorite sport,” he stated. “So we’ll just have to wait and see.”
