Former professional football player David Beckham, 49, has a dream life with his family in a £27M rural villa with land for 380 football pitches

David and Victoria Beckham have reportedly found their new Beckingham Palace – a subtle £27million countryside estate.

The Grade II-listed country estate- Abbotswood Estate near Stow-on-the-Wold in the Cotswolds – is currently the most expensive country home on sale in the UK.

The couple – and their very famous brood – are believed to have viewed the house and paid a number of visits to the area.

The main house, which is 24 times bigger than an average house, boasts 10 bedrooms and six bathrooms, while there are 13 “out” buildings in the grounds.

And the estates offers enough land to build 380 football pitches, but the land is currently registered as organic with a mixture of arable and livestock (1,800 ewes to be precise).

The River Dikler runs through the estate and there is the chance for pheasant or partridge shooting.

David, 40, has recently taken up shooting and angling after encouragement from his film director pal Sam Mendes.

The Beckhams were seen in Stow last week – where they popped into a local chippie for tea.

Ian Shoemark, owner of the Greedy’s takeaway, said: “They had sausage and chips and he was very friendly.

“It would be lovely if they had a home here.”

Last week it was reported that the fashion designer and former footballer were eyeing up another manor house, Amberley House, with a slightly more modest £5.4 million price tag.

The Beckhams are the talk of the area after they were photographed in nearby Nailsworth. They have also been spotted in Stroud on two occasions.
