Texas Rangers manager Bruce Bochy announced that third baseman Josh Jung has started engaging in “baseball activities” at camp. On Sunday, Jung began taking swings in the batting cages. The team’s starting third baseman had suffered a left calf strain early in spring training but is now resuming his baseball routine.
If he avoids any further setbacks and can participate in Cactus League games soon, Jung still has a chance to be ready for Opening Day at the end of March. The 26-year-old has gained a reputation for being injury-prone early in his MLB career, yet he was named a first-time All-Star in 2023, even after missing significant time due to a thumb injury. Last season, Jung posted a .266 batting average (127-for-478) with 23 home runs and 70 RBIs over 122 games, making him RotoBaller’s No. 10 fantasy third baseman as he heads into his second full season in the majors.
