Evan Carter and Gilly in a warm reunion

Texas Rangers outfielder Evan Carter has not started in the last three games due to persistent back soreness and is set to consult a specialist on Monday.

On Sunday, Carter shared with reporters that he experienced discomfort during a pinch-hitting appearance earlier in the week, and the issue worsened, leading to limited play on Friday and his absence from the last two games.

Carter previously dealt with a fracture in his back in 2021.

“I just don’t want it to escalate again,” Carter mentioned, as reported by The Dallas Morning News. “I remember how it felt back then, and I haven’t experienced anything like that in the last couple of years. I’d rather miss a few games now and find out it’s just in my head than allow it to worsen. Hopefully, I’m just being overly cautious.”

Carter, who made a significant impact last season with his clutch hitting, defense, and speed during the Rangers’ World Series run, is currently batting .216 with 5 home runs, 15 RBIs, 23 runs, and 2 stolen bases, while striking out 37 times in 125 at-bats this season.
